Call for expressions of interest: researcher database

Call for researchers to express interest in undertaking Modern Slavery PEC research.

Published: 27th October 2022

Commissioned Research projects are funded where we need to respond quickly to an urgent need to fill an evidence gap and do so through a short project, working closely with a small number of researchers, rather than going through a call for funding applications process.

The Modern Slavery PEC will approach researchers from our databases directly when looking to commission work, so that we can start projects and deliver research quickly to meet specific policy or operational needs. We want to ensure that we have a diverse range of researchers to work with on commissioned research projects and therefore invite researchers to complete our expression of interest form below.

All commissioned research must meet the following criteria:

  • Address the aims and objectives identified by the Modern Slavery PEC
  • Use the appropriate methodology to meet the aims and objectives identified
  • Meet the Modern Slavery PEC’s strategic objectives and aligns with the PEC’s guiding principles for research
  • The project is feasible within the time/resource allocation
  • The research has appropriate ethics and safeguarding statements and protocols
  • The project has clear and strong policy impact potential
  • Proposed project outputs are appropriate to the goals of the project and resources of the team.

Who can do the research?

Commissioned research can be led by and include researchers from UK-based Higher Education Institutions, Research Organisations registered with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and charities registered in the UK. The Modern Slavery PEC is committed to ensuring our research base meets our equality, diversity and inclusion principles.

Costings

This research will be up to a maximum of £30,000, to include staff costs and additional expenditure (such as travel) needed to complete the research. Commissioned research will be funded at standard UKRI rates. The Modern Slavery PEC will work with either an individual or a group of researchers, depending on the needs of the project.

How do you register interest?

If you are interested in being considered for commissioned research projects, we ask that you complete a short form setting out your areas of research and experience below. We will use this information to create a database of researchers and contact those with the appropriate background and skills.
